The Lorenz story is a genuine entrepreneurial adventure. The Lorenz family tree is full of millwrights, blacksmiths and inventors.  William and Anna Lorenz settle in Canada having moved from Russia.

Edwin Lorenz was born in Maxstone SK.  His family relocated to Ontario when he was a young boy.  He went on to marry Diane Lorenz in 1952 followed by the birth of Peter Lorenz in 1961.

The Lorenz family moves to Ontario and settles in Dunnville.

Ed works for Simon Day Ltd moving equipment to the new General Foods plant in Cobourg.  Diane and Peter move to Cobourg “just for the 6 month job”

Ed invents and patents the Lorenz Clamp, and Lorenz & Son is born and opened for business in the family home garage.

The Guardhouse, Northam Industrial Park

The business relocated to a 600 square foot facility to start production. Edwin Lorenz, a Millwright by trade opened a Millwrighting Division to round out their business offering.

The business continued to grow resulting in several moves to gain more space and a better manufacturing environment.

Lorenz Conveying Products was born and led by Peter Lorenz after Ed and Diane Lorenz retired in the 1990’s. Peter Lorenz is an industry expert and experienced millwright. The company shifted focus from Millwrighting to strictly manufacturing becoming a leading manufacturer of all things conveying. The focus was on Clamps and Couplings, Pneumatic Fittings and Custom Fabrications like Cyclones.

The first part of the current 8 acre campus was purchased from Harnden & King Construction . Since then Lorenz Conveying Products has expanded to 50,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

The first Wallace Bender was purchased expanding the product line to include Bends from 1.5” OD to 6” Sch Pipe in aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel and galvanized steel.

Expansion to the property included the purchase of the current Office Administration building.

ISO Certification was initially acquired. The company has continued to grow with this quality program currently designated as ISO9001-2015.

The 10,000 sq. foot Warehouse was built on the campus. The company started manufacturing Diverter Valves and Gates.

A Flow Water Jet Machine was purchased to enable in-house quality control and ensure delivery times are met. And the Valve manufacturing building was opened.

24 head CNC Machines were purchased to further enable in-house quality control and speed up production.

Lorenz becomes a multi-national company. Lorenz Conveying Products USA purchases SMS International Inc. and Flow Valve International and begins production of Lorenz Iris Valves and Syntron® Iris Valves in their Normal, IL facility.

Ed-ucational Centre Opens

Named after one of our founders, Ed Lorenz, a dedicated meeting space was opened to showcase samples of our entire line of products.  This space is large enough to host company training sessions plus Representative Training Sessions.  We are always looking for ways to educate and grow.
